A Brutal Break-Fast: Reflecting On Ramadan And Eid

For Muslims across the world, the month of Ramadan has just ended with the three-day celebration of Eid. For Syrians, the month was marked by increased uncertainty and violence. Refugees forced from their homes had to rely on others for food to break their fast, and those inside Syria had no break from the bloodshed and bombings. A time of spirituality, good deeds, and forgiveness, Ramadan is supposed to be a peaceful exercise in reflection and self-control.
